Is it possible that you would be able to have an open discussion about the police handling of minors in the local area recently? I have witnessed and heard of a number of incidents recently that have caused me concern. While I am aware that some children loiter on the streets at inappropriate times of the night, I am quite disappointed and angered by the way that the local police are treating our young people in these situations! Is is really ok for the police to be punching 13 yr olds? Referring to them as ‘tramps”’f..ing little s..ts’ and directing expletives at them?? I think my annoyance is exarcerbated by the fact that this treatment is not reciprocated in cheshire. This is in my experience as a professional working with young people and their families, covering the whole of greater manchester through my ine of work. It may also be worth discussing parenting and boundaries in this discussion as I am aware that some of these minors may not be afforded the right amount of supervision or curfews. I am very disgruntled with the local police at the moment due to these issues and would like to know if other people in my community are feeling the same. As a parent trrying to raise my children with respect for authority figures, I believe that my job is made nearly impossible by certain police officers at all levels due to their incredibly inappropriate and poor behaviour and communication skills when dealing with our children. We raise them to believe that the police are there to protect them and keep them safe, but on the contrary tghe police are showing them that they are there to bully them both, mentally, verbally and physicaly. I definitely think that this is worth a community discussion.

    thanks

Hello Charmaine, thank you for sharing such information. I usually find people are too frightened to comment on such oppressive police practice. We need more people like yourself to share their views and concerns.
It would be an interesting debate if we could get more people and youths to contribute. Spread the word and let’s keep this momentum flowing. Regards
